One can tell that the crescendo to Lotusphere is upon us, as the googles related to Lotusphere here and on other sites show, as well as the amount of traffic on the Turtle's Gonzo Unoffficial Lotusphere 2004 site.  Out of respect to The Turtle, I'm trying to participate there as much as I have any other year, though clearly I'm writing a lot of Lotusphere related content here as well as on lotus.com/weblog.  So, the parts of his site that I'm watching more than anything are the chat board, the Lotusphere Diary (which will obviously fill out more closer to and during the event), and the increasingly entertaining list of polls.
Yes, there are quite a few polls this year.  With this particular poll, I guess I sort of feel like Jeanette Horan, who was a Turtle poll target one year.  Not sure I'm bothered by 20% of the voters being unaware of this site or my lotus.com weblog, besides, they are probably all concentrated in St. Louis.  Another poll strikes close to home, too.  Turtle asks if Lotusphere should move, and of the 53 votes cast so far, the only two cities that remain goose eggs are Houston and Chicago.

I bet you could get a good rate at renting the Ravinia lawn out in January for a Lotusphere sized party.... ;-)

I can't understand why anyone would want to move it anywhere else, with the exception of some on the west coast thinking maybe San Diego.

Orlando is the perfect spot! Typically warmer than the majority of the country at any given time, plenty of restaurants, hotel space, entertainment, tons of inbound/outbound flights, can accomodate 10,000+ whining geeks, etc.

Ever been to a conference at McCormick Place in the Windy City? Not a bad facility, but not exactly the setup of the Disney lagoon/boardwalk.

I think we all under-estimate the value of not having to "cab it" to/from our conference and being able to just walk out side for a breath of fresh Florida air between sessions. Just don't wander too far into the grass as you're liable to carry a suprise from the water fowl into your next session :-)

I found this blog via a search for unknown people in St Louis. Glad to know you. Now who the heck are you?
