First sightings
January 24 2004
I came out of hibernation following lunch
and made the rounds for a couple of hours. Viel danke to vowe
& Ute for doing some adventurous grocery shopping for me...the week
will be much easier for this. I also spotted bloggers Bruce Elgort,
Julian R of NSFTools, blog reader Rob McDonough, heard from Mr. IDoNotes,
who just missed me at Tubbi's, saw a bunch of the German contingent (Dr.
Nastansky, Daniel Nashed, Marco Foellmer, Ingo Erdmann), and of course
a number of Loti. It feels good to be in the zone, but I also welcomed
the last hour in which I spent sitting on a bench along the Yacht&Beach
boardwalk.... the last few moments of peace before the storm begins.
Looking for a way to reach me this week? Well, vowe has a Lotusphere
wiki going on, but I'm not about
to publish my room number, sorry. However, during the business hours
part of the show, find anyone with a radio, and they can reach me. That
will be faster and easier than cell phones, e-mail, or anything else.

Blog READER no longer, my friend. Welcome to the launch party for CaptainOblivious.com - I've finally entered the world of the blog PUBLISHERS.
You may now resume your previously scheduled Spherical activities...

When I arrived Friday there were almost no signs (literally and physically) of Lotusphere.
The Dolphin rotunda was empty (of course), nothing was crowded.
I have to believe that without conventions the Swan and Dolphin would never be full.
I pity the people at bluezoo, which seems like Disney trying to do South Beach cool. Whatever sophistication will go right out the door once we storm the place.
