From Computer Reseller News:

"There are some ISVs in the largest customers who prefer to work with IBM. [But ] what has traction in small and medium businesses? WebSphere? No traction. Notes? No traction. WebSphere in SMB space ... Hello? DB2? It's a SQL Server and Oracle world."
I ran the Notes business for Lotus 2001 into 2002.  I've stated this publicly, and it was at least true at the time, about half the Notes revenue was coming from organizations with 5000 employees or less.  Now there are offerings like Domino Express, starter packs, and a slew of other ways that Notes/Domino is more attractive to the SMB space.  True across all of IBM's brands, really.  But I guess it made for a good sound bite, real or not.
