Today, I flew on two aeroplanes where I was allowed to bring on a bottle of water.  Nobody checked my identification before boarding the plane.  I didn't have to take my shoes off at security, which took less than one minute to pass through.

Onboard the aircraft, a meal was served in economy class, on a one-hour flight.  Headsets didn't cost $2.  Newspapers and a glass of wine were free, too. Some of the flight attendants were pretty and smiled.  Not a word was said about which toilets could be used by what passengers.

On September 11th, it's particularly poignant to be someplace in the world where it hasn't all changed.  Still, on a plane with 250+ people, I bet that less than 25 of them realize how good they have it.
