A resume/c.v. that crossed my desk while in Oz...
November 17 2008
My colleague Matthew Trendinick just forwarded along an e-mail from a job applicant...I suspect he will get a lot of people checking him out:
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lotus® ND8 (Notes Domino® 8) and I believe I possess the attributes necessary to improve collaboration within your business.I'm ready to hire him!
Now, I know you might not be hiring at the moment -- and have a previous version of me -- but I'd really appreciate it if you took a moment to look at my attached resume. I have an excellent employment record, have been trained in a wide array of fields and am well recognised for my efficiency, effectiveness and robust nature. I'm capable of leading a team or working as part of a group, and classify myself as an enthusiastic self-starter able to work across multiple locations around the world.
If you're still not satisfied after seeing my resume, I'll give you the opportunity to come and see me working in person. That way, you can judge whether I'd make a valuable contribution to your organisation.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Maybe could add "I have had extensive experience of Microsoft Windows, Macintosh OSX and Linux (Suse, Red Hat and Ubuntu) on the client side, as well as Windows, Unix and AS400 servers."
Cheers,
- Mike

Ed,
I thought there was a 'planned release' for that campaign (if you get my drift). Did Matt say it was OK to talk/blog about it yet?

Nicely written. Gives me some ideas for my resume.

@3 your query would perhaps have been better suited for e-mail rather than public discourse.
As I understood it, that "planned release" is today, at least as far as the materials I've received. Is there an issue or downside with my blogging it?

I hope those materials make it across my bosses desk - she'll LOVE it! Very nice!

Sorry Ed, I was on a customer site with no access to personal email. I had some notice that Lotus OZ were planning this but I thought it was a December event. Your sources re: the release date are obviously more informed than mine so I will happily pull my head in.

@2 you left out Mainframes or Z series and AIX P series.
Good campaign, does the cover letter explain why they should upgrade from r6,7 to r8?

1989 to 2008 (inclusive) makes 20 years of experience!
I'd like to give a reference to this candidate!
Maybe we should all put a "Recommendation" on LinkedIn for LotusNotes8? I started a profile there:
{ Link }
Anyone else want to make a personal recommendation?

Now, watch LinkedIn get mad at us.

@11 so should I delete the listing?
Ed? What do you think? I really like the idea of hundred or more people "recommending" Lotus Notes on LinkedIn...

@11/12 we have a Lotus Notes persona on Facebook ... so the concept exists. I don't know LinkedIn's terms of service but my impression is that they are less likely to want a listing for an entity.

You would have thought that Nathan would have at least changed his name to "Lotus Notes" by now. Come on Nathan even Bleed Yellow.

Though Lotus did forget to talk about the constant crashing on the job. We still use him, but it is a little troubling.

@15 Not familiar with your situation, but have many customers who indicate they are running Domino at 100% availability to users. Perhaps we can help with "constant crashing"?

Very well done and creative. Kudos to the creative team that developed that.
