Almost 8.5.2
August 8 2010
I dropped some strong hints about the release of Notes/Domino 8.5.2 at the IamLUG user group last week. The hints can get stronger now, and you'll get an official announcement soon. We're set to ship this month in English, with language rollouts starting just a few weeks after the initial release. More soon.

Ed if you really want the financially poor developers/students to learn/play xpages as well as all the enhanced features of free Domino Designer 8.5.2 then please try to release a trial version of Domino Server 8.5.2 after the gold release of the Notes/Domino 8.5.2

I hope the developer documentation in 8.5.2 is improved, because the weak documentation not only regarding xPages but also the weak documentation of expeditor in Notes 8.5.1 is the reason why the adoption of the new technologys is so slow.

Yes, the documentation for XPages has not been very good and that is a understatement, but the business partner and Lotus community has been great in providing documentation and training for XPages. Iamlug and also MWLUG are great resources that are free. XPages as a technology is really Dojo and there are plenty of documentation and books on that. If you are a Notes/Domino developer who has never done development outside of Notes and Domino yes it is hard to understand. However, if you have done Web development and other tool, the concept is easier to relate to.

Will 8.5.2 client support Ubuntu 10.04? Will there be a 64 bit client?

Will Sametime 8.5.1 be supported to run on a Domino 8.5.2 Server or do we need to stick with a old one like it was the case with Sametime 8.5?

Domino designer for Linux, any word on this?
A lot of developers are now using Linux or Mac, would be nice to see designer on Linux. Since it's Eclipse based, what's the problem.
Thanks and Great work to the Lotus Team for Domino 8.5.2 when it get's here.

I got a kick out of the feature list here:
{ Link }
Feature for notes:
The ability to save an email as a file...WOW, welcome to the 1990's Lotus Notes, glad you could join us.
One that I don't get for iNotes:
Ultra-light Android support for Apple iPhone 4.0
What? This makes no sense!
My Favorite for iNotes:
Improved performance when creating mail messages.
Really? That is an update...I think that is called how it should have worked to start with.

"Did I mention we make announcements on Tuesday" Thanks for making it out to IAMLUG again this year.
