with Fumihiko Suzuki of Notes Consortium

The Lotus Japan team has built quite an impressive agenda for the four days I'm in the country.  Several customer meetings, partner roundtables, community/user group events, internal planning, and a meeting with the Japanese Notes Consortium.  Today I met with Suzuki-san from the Notes Consortium to prepare for the larger meeting, later in the week.  Note that this picture was taken at the end of a long day....

One topic that has come up several times today -- Linux desktops.  It seems like there must be a different "market-leading" Linux distribution in every market in the world.  Here it's a combination of SUSE, Ubuntu, TurboLinux, and Asiaux.  This was always one of my concerns with doing a Linux version of the Notes client -- if/how to support all those flavors.  I suppose this is ultimately a good problem to have.

Wednesday, I will be watching something like fireworks by riding Japan's biggest, baddest Nozumi Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka and then back towards Nagoya later in the day.  I hope I get a chance to grab an ekiben on the way.  Oh, and don't tell my five-year-old...I didn't see Hello Kitty walking around, but I did walk right into the Sanrio section of Mitsukoshi tonight...
