I'm sitting in the back of the room at the inaugural Irish Lotus User Group meeting.  A fantastic turnout--about 70 people--for a Friday afternoon...

Too bad Paul Mooney clamed the Plaze for this hotel already...

and "Two Fish" Buchan has the self-described "bling-iest" laptop -- (I've since heard someone describe this as a "chavtop"!!!):

Some interesting observations from my presentation:

  • There's more R5 and 6.0.x usage here than I've seen in other markets.
  • Almost everyone running Notes 6.5 clients is using the integrated instant messaging.
  • Very few non-Windows Domino servers running amongst these customers.
  • Nobody is running Notes/Domino 7 beta yet...hope that the use of ND7 will change in a week or two. :)

Sean Murphy from Irish Department of Justice is presenting now, and Blackberry plus some Notes/Domino 7 updates are still to come.

The most interesting observation -- all bar two of the questions during my Q&A came from non-Irishmen/women.  Maybe they're saving their questions for over a pint of Guinness a couple of hours from now.
