Blogging at the Irish Lotus User Group meeting...
August 26 2005
I'm sitting in the back of the room at
the inaugural Irish
Lotus User Group meeting.
A fantastic turnout--about 70 people--for a Friday afternoon...
Too bad Paul
Mooney clamed the Plaze for
this hotel already...
and "Two
Fish" Buchan has the
self-described "bling-iest" laptop -- (I've since heard someone
describe this as a "chavtop"!!!):
Some interesting observations from my presentation:
- There's more R5 and 6.0.x usage here than I've seen in other markets.
- Almost everyone running Notes 6.5 clients is using the integrated instant messaging.
- Very few non-Windows Domino servers running amongst these customers.
- Nobody is running Notes/Domino 7 beta yet...hope that the use of ND7 will change in a week or two. :)
Sean Murphy from Irish Department of Justice is presenting now, and Blackberry plus some Notes/Domino 7 updates are still to come.
The most interesting observation -- all bar two of the questions during my Q&A came from non-Irishmen/women. Maybe they're saving their questions for over a pint of Guinness a couple of hours from now.

I accept responsibility for allowing the Scot in..... I know, I know......... asking for trouble

A few points (I will blog myself later)
1.Listen to Ed and get more seats in advance!
2.Burn more ND7 CD's
3.When photos are been taken of me, the light is not my friend!
4.Bring loud bell and adopt bar-doorman voice next time to force people back into seats:-)
Excellent job Ed, a lot of interest gained.
