Buzz buzz buzz........

Last stop on this week's crazy tour.  A two-hour delay coming out of Ljubljana, but here I am.  Have I said how much I dislike Chares De Gaulle airport ? We landed in terminal 1, which is the crazy-looking flying saucer + octopus arms terminal.  Coming in just after a 747 from Islamabad doesn't help getting oriented to Paris, with people buzzing everywhere at 10:30 PM.  Thankfully no queue for a taxi -- yes, I should take the train, and I will going home, but it was just so late and I simply wanted to arrive.  At least there was no traffic.

I had a very different buzz going in Umag yesterday morning.  When I awoke and drew the curtains, I noticed an insect hanging out on the window.  The dark shape against the bright sun was confusing, and it sort of looked like a wasp!  I didn't think too much about it, assuming it was some other kind of insect, and started to get ready for the IBM Forum.  I turned the lights on in the bathroom, and immediately started hearing a buzzing sound.  Weird.  Turned 'em back off and the buzzing stopped.  Repeated this a couple more times.  I thought it was pretty odd, but somehow rationalized the sound as something faulty in the electricity, and just went about my business.

Only when I was finished dressing and started packing my suitcase did I discover that, uh, those are indeed a couple of wasps flying around my hotel room!  One as to assume that they were with me all night...perhaps even nesting in the bathroom ceiling or something like that.  I am more than quite thankful that neither (none?) of them stung me during the night -- I can only guess what the outcome of an attack would have been, and where I would have found treatment for bee stings.

In the meantime, this is my chamber  here in Paris (note the hotel's Domino website).  It's nice and cozy, but a different kind of buzz awaits: Paris.  I'm getting outta here...
