It's been a long day of watching air traffic control in Chicago, but if all goes well, in a few hours I'm headed to San Francisco for the Enterprise MobileNext Forum, taking place tomorrow and Thursday.

Enterprise MobileNext is a new conference, bringing together a few hundred key senior IT strategists and decision-makers to plan the future of enterprise mobility. I was honored to be part of the Advisory Board that put the conference together, and will be joining Alistair Rennie on Thursday for his keynote speech, "Mobile Readiness for Social Business". I'll then be part of a deep-dive session where we'll specifically look at the IBM solutions in this space, including new apps being released just this month.

IBM will also be present on the product showcase floor, with other executives and product experts demonstrating our full range of social and collaborative applications. I am looking forward to spending some time talking with customers focused on this particular aspect of technology; probably people I would never otherwise get the chance to meet.

There are some great customer organizations on the agenda in addition to vendors; I'm coming to learn from them, not just present our wares.

Oh -- my competitive side wouldn't be satisfied without a small jab in the direction of Redmond, absent from the conference. What's up with that?

See you in San Francisco.
