So I haven't been writing about personal stuff much lately, but even a hot summer weekend doesn't get much better than this one was.  Some of the highlights:

  • Being able to walk (well, Megan rode her bike) down the street to hear the Midwest Young Artists perform an outdoor summer concert on the historic lawns of Fort Sheridan.
  • Seeing Cirque du Soleil's latest touring show, Corteo, with family, on its opening weekend in Chicago.  Megan and I only were able to stay for the first act -- but it was a fantastic, lengthy (70 minute), and rich first act.  Highly, highly recommended -- perhaps the best of the touring shows (and I've seen them all).
  • Oh and since I was in the city a fair bit this weekend, I couldn't help but be reminded of a conversation with a co-worker the other day about the quest to see all the low-number licensed taxis in Chicago.  Apparently there are many people who have this obsession, and Chicago Tribune columnist Eric Zorn even blogged about the missing #80.  I saw #46 today, does that count?
Back to normalcy, at least for a few days, in the morning....
