Despite its central position in the summer calendar, August is quickly shaping up to be a busy month -- too busy, in fact. For the first time in a long time, I am having to drop out of a previously-intended commitment, namely to be at IamLUG in St. Louis next week. Believe me when I say I'm honestly bummed to be missing out on St. Louis in August, because for me as for many, IamLUG represents a mid-point between Lotusphere events, a time to reconnect, a time to be among friends and colleagues. But in this case, family comes first, and a summer camp not-to-be-missed commitment for my oldest falls the same day.

IamLUG on August 1-2 promises to be a great event, and there is still limited space available (though the primary hotel is sold out). The keynote speaker is Brian Cheng, who wowed thousands during the Lotusphere 2011 opening session. There are some special activities, including a Texas Hold'em tournament, and several "TackItOn" sessions available on August 3.

Though I won't be at IamLUG, Jason Dumont from my team will be there and there will be other IBM and world-class speakers. I will be at some other user groups this month - MWLUG in Milwaukee August 24-26 and AusLUG in Sydney Australia 29-30 August.

And just posted...a video montage of highlights from the DominoPoint Italian event earlier this month. I'm sure there will be thousands of photos to go along with this at some point, but it's a fun 3-ish minute reflection of a really wonderful, unique event.
