The channel announcement is out and the software is available for download from Passport Advantage (as well as from XL software downloads internally for IBMers...):
At a glanceWatch for a press release later this morning as well. My download is just about done...maybe there was one advantage to a bout of insomnia tonight :-)

I just finished installing 8.0.2 on my XP workstation. The performance boost is definately there.
Great job!

Weird, I went to passport advantage and it is not on my list of software. Where did you guys find it?

It's just wrong that on the one day I have to travel this summer, 8.0.2 is released and I have to wait until tonight to get the code. :(

Never mind, I went in a differnet way and found it. Hopefully the performance improvements will make up for my lost time!

I'm reverting to 8.0.1 after just minutes. Worked with Notes for over 10 years and 8.0.2 is the worst build I've ever installed.
1) Error - An internal error occurred during: "Feed Reader Background Polling Job". This error occurs approximately 5-10times each second (no, not minute)
2) Another error related to the above, the UI didn't allow me to copy it.
3) Email framesets completely blank when re-opening existing tab. Closing that tab and re-opening it resolves the issue but it's a deployment stopper for me. My other test users confirmed this issue on their install.
4) notes2w.exe running at >90% CPU - Guessing this is related to the logging of errors 1&2. This makes the machine completely unusable.
Maybe I'll have more success with the 8.5 beta.

Felt I should follow up, the downgrade to 8.0.1 failed miserably. A second attempt appeared to be successful, according to the installer, but doesn't work at all.
So now I'm without a working Notes client facing a clean install unless a miracle happens.

Great performance boost, I also saw some initial notesw2.exe issues with high cpu but it calmed down after a while.
Another thing though - will there be an incremental installer to make it faster to upgrade clients from 8.0.1 to 8.0.2?

Ben Rose http://www.jaffacake.net | 8/26/2008 7:33:33 AM
Now working on a clean install of 8.0.2, 2hrs lost "upgrading".
Performance is markedly improved, approaching that of R7 (if we ignore initial load times).

@10 does the clean install fix the issues you stated above?
- 12
Michael Kobrowski | 8/26/2008 8:09:32 AM
Still downloading here, but surprised as how fast the downloads are. Maybe MS should have IBM host their photosynth, maybe then it would be available ;-)

Ed - Can you post some screen-shots of Ultra-lite for the iPhone?

Ben Rose http://www.jaffacake.net | 8/26/2008 9:16:40 AM
@11 - All my issues are now gone, it's working like a normal client using R8.0.2.
I expect the blank mailbox issue to affect everybody though, it has here. Closing and re-opening the tab resolves it simple enough, but we know a lot of users would call the helpdesk before they thought to do that.
Aside from that UI issue, all working just fine.

@15 Do you know when the link will be updated from 'Planned in 2008' to 'Shipping'? I understand why it hasn't been update just want to know when I can send customers there.

@10 I have huge problems after my upgrade from 8.0.1 too, and here are a few more details on what works and what doesn't.
The Notes client cannot not launch, but the admin client works fine, and the "new mail has arrived" also works .... The tray icon shows new mail and I get the sound.
The designer client also works.
Even trying to launch the Notes client from the bookmark in the admin or designer client does not work either.
And a "clean" notes.ini does not do anything either.
Repair from setup.exe does not do anything either.

Any news about the updated 8.5 Public Beta for the Mac?

David Bell | 8/26/2008 8:43:08 PM
@18 - try renaming your data\workspace directory and let the client rebuild it

Wow, I have upgraded from 8.0.1 basic to the 8.0.2 standard minus Symphony and Activities and it runs much much better. With 1GB in my machine 8.0.1 was just too slow but this is a remarkable improvement.

Just noticed the client config preference that's been slipped in at the end of the list of 'additional options'. Sweet. 8-)

This was really needed and what a great job you did. I hate to say this but can we sqweeze anymore improvements out? Just think what great reviews you would get if you. Cut it in 1/2 again? It gives me chills to think about it.
Again, very nice work and its much appreciated.

My upgraded 8.0.2 client (eclipse) use between 130 and 150 MB, so I cant say its a big difference between the old 8.0.1 (eclipse) client. Do I need to use the standard client to see the improvements? My Outlook 2007 Client use 30 MB...
- 26
Erik Waldener | 8/28/2008 8:32:00 AM
Still use a lot of memory, but the performance is much better! Thank You!
- 27
Ed Brill http://www.edbrill.com | 8/28/2008 10:24:45 AM
@25 Outlook != Notes in terms of functionality, so the comparison to a 30 MB memory footprint isn't quite realistic. You should see a 20%-ish improvement versus 8.0.1/8.0.0.

Any news about Traveler 8.0.2?
- 29
Ed Brill http://www.edbrill.com | 8/28/2008 4:40:43 PM
@28 what kind of news? I am not aware of an update to Traveler ... next one I think is for 8.5.
- 30
Mathias Persson | 8/28/2008 4:43:05 PM
@29 I was hoping that we should see added platforms already in 8.0.2...

Paul Evans | 8/29/2008 5:16:21 PM
So we have installed Notes / Domino 8.0.2
How come the package date is 7th August 2008. Should it not have been 26th August 2008?
- 32
Ian Scott | 8/30/2008 2:48:13 AM
@31 - really one for IBM but I imagine the package is created prior to release so that it can be checked and tested etc.

Major issues with 8.0.2. I upgraded from 8.0.1 on the day of the release because of the speed/load issue. 8.0.2 is faster. We rolled it out to about a dozen people, then about 2 weeks ago all heck broke loose. Started getting calls about the client crashing and the user couldn't get back in. This happened first on a developer who has admin/client/dev Full version and then to end user in IT who has just the mail client (full). Sometimes the wipe of the ini would fix it, other times we had to wipe it and rename the address book. Today my client crashed and I've been struggling to get it started. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, wiped ini's, renamed names, sometimes it starts and I think I've fixed it and then it crashes again.
Last week I opened a ticket with support and they know about this and are working on a hot fix. They didn't have any other work arounds.

Hi, I am trying to search for the installer files for Lotus Notes 8.0.2 Eclipse version but couldnt find it in the IBM website. Do you have a copy of that version which you can email to me? I need it for my testing purposes

Just installed the Full version of 8.0.2 on my Windows client and it really rock'n roll :-)
