Look ma, no registration required!
August 24 2006
Based on feedback from the Lotus blogging community, the registration process that had been required in order to view the demo of the Lotus Notes access for SAP Solutions feature has been removed. I realize that workaround instructions had been published, but now for anyone hitting IBM's website directly to view this feature, they can click right into the demo.
For demonstration of new products, you can expect that IBM will continue to require registration...this helps IBM identify interested customers and have an ability to follow-up with you. In the case of a product feature, though, it makes sense to make feature demos available broadly. Thus, it's no longer required for this feature, and won't be for other similar kinds of features in the future.

@1 Do you routinely tick the box that says "don't bother me anymore" and uncheck the one that says "please follow up with me" (those are paraphrases)? I know that's my default on a lot of sites. On IBM's, I've gotten follow-up e-mails even as an IBMer.

@Ed: how about a quick unrestricted version to entice people who are just 'tire kicking' and want a very rapid overview, then a more detailed one requiring registration?
Flash & flash video are the options I use any more. I generally dont even try anything that requires Quicktime, WindowsMedia or Real. Those are dead technologies imo, at least for 'during browsing' experiences; YouTube killed them.

I'm sorry, what's "so stupid"?

@2 I always thought those should be a pair of radio buttons. They seem to be mutually exclusive...

Has anybody ever actually received a follow-up on one of these registrations? I know I haven't.
