As the year winds down, attention always turns to Lotusphere preparations.  I've seen many tweets and mails from IBMers and customers/partners readying presentation content and advocating birds-of-a-feather sessions and sponsors setting up events.  All good stuff and consistent with years past.  As we get closer to the event, registration numbers are tracking nearly identically with the last couple of years -- I mean +/- 1 or 2 people in each category (customers, partners, press, speakers, etc) vs. LS2010.  While the event is a couple of weeks later in 2011, the intensity and focus continues.

For me, one of the tasks in the next few weeks is to work with my friends Gab Davis and Paul Mooney to help select contestants for Lotusphere Idol!  As many of you know, Lotusphere Idol is a competition format where four or five short presentations are given to audition for a full speaking slot at Lotusphere on Thursday.  Most of our former Lotusphere Idol winners have gone on to speak at subsequent Lotuspheres and other Lotus-focused conferences.  The session is tons of fun and demonstrates the strength of the community around Lotus software, along with the encouragement to bring in new blood in a constantly-changing market.

If you are interested in participating in Lotusphere Idol, contact me at ed_brill@us.ibm.com or Paul or Gabriella.  We'll help you write your abstract for your 5-minute audition, send you the presentation template, and get you ready to go for it.  With five weeks, you have plenty of time to get ready -- and win!
