IBM Press has published a useful new book: Survival Guide for Lotus Notes and Domino Administrators.  Written by IBMer Mark Elliott, the book covers essentials on configuring the Notes client, including end-user settings as well as how to use policies, and key new features of Notes/Domino 8.  There's also a whole section of the book that shares tips and hints on user support and management, and a component that helps admins find additional help -- including all sorts of useful online resources, such as PlanetLotus.org.  The book is about 250 pages long, and while I did not read it cover to cover, I was pleased to see the specific examples and details, and am hopeful that the casual reader who picks this up via Amazon.com or in a bookstore finds their way into the Lotus community through the links and pointers within.

I've never done this before, but it seemed like a good opportunity to make acquiring this book easier.  IBM Press is offering a 35% discount to edbrill.com readers on this book, including free shipping for US destinations.  Order the book via IBM Press online: www.ibmpressbooks.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=0137153317#info2
and enter the following case-sensitive code at checkout: IBM3312

I read the online version of the book ...maybe I'll push the PDFs down to my Kindle.  A physical book is, of course, available -- Gregg Eldred received his earlier today...
