New screenshots of Lotus iNotes on IBM.com
January 28 2010
The ibm.com team is utilizing some new techniques to display product screen shots on our Lotus iNotes web pages. In the past, I've heard complaints that screen shots are hard to find on our website. The new technology makes them easier to find, display, zoom, and interact.
A bug in webkit-based browsers (e.g. Safari) related to image maps means this capability is intermittent, but on Firefox and IE, it works great.

A browser bug. That's cute. Never heard of those before.
Anyway, can you tell the team about PNG and why JPG is a poor choice for screenshots? You can may want to refer them here: { Link }
Mike, when you zoom in to 100%, you can right-click the image and open in new tab or window. That's where you get to the file, like so:

Yes, this is a great shame not being able to view the images in full screen mode. I could hardly see anything! Thanks Volker for posting the screenshots.

I'm very impressed with the features. I would love to make iNotes available to users.
But I agree with the other comments made: the pop-up dialog should be larger and more importantly: they screenshots would be much more powerful if they were clean and without artifacts.

I dont think this is easier to interact, sorry. You can grab an area of the screenshot and move it/reposition it. However, if you happen to position the screen on an area where the only visible items are sections that have pop-ups, you no long have that option - you have to revert to using the navigation compass until you get an area of the screen that you can grab.
I zoomed the first inotes product screenshot to 60% and had just the view and sidebar in the panel. I could then no longer grab the screen to reposition it.

Oh my god, this ist really a bad implementation for screenshots. The window is very small on my 24" TFT monitor and when the pop-ups are enabled i can not pan the screen after i zoom the screenshot. I hope this will be improved soon.

Sorry, Ed, but this is pretty poor stuff, and for something that ought to be very easy.
The pop-up dialog that you get isn't resizeable. So when you do zoom in, you can only zoom in to a very small portion of the graphic if you want to see it at a readable size.
I didn't see any pop-up descriptions either, and yes, I did have that option turned on.
I'm running Firefox 3.6 on Unbuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). I've not tried on Windows or Mac.
