Notes/Domino 7.0.1 coming

February 4 2006

Unless something changes in the staging process over the weekend, the Notes/Domino 7.0.1 release will be available on Monday, 6 February 2006 or Tuesday, 7 February.  The full release will come first, with incremental kits coming later in the month.

Speaking of upgrades, we'll probably upgrade the Dominoblog software running this website sometime in the next week, too.

    Ed thanks for the good news. We are running a consolidation project here in the EMEA region. At the moment we have 150 Servers (WIN32), 8000 people (XP), on ND5 and 6. Release 5.0.12 and 6.5.3. All servers/clients that we support sould be at least ND6 (6.5.3). When we move forward my 'personal' suggestion would be consolidate to an environment where we have Linux REL4 (Quad processors). The core envirement should then have 6 Servers. Like 2 Mail, 2 Application and 2 Staging servers.

    Also a BlackBerry, SameTime, QuickPlace 7 and External Domain Servers will be part of the core.

    At the moment we use GSX from gsx.net to monitor all Core Servers.

    .. looking forward to have ND7, Release 7.0.1 as a start-point.

    John ... Thanks.

    Thanks for the good news! Now we can start the upgrade to ND7. Too bad ST 7.5 isn't out yet...

    Our first server build will be based on 7.0 (released end of february). Our second build will be based on 7.0.1. Otherwise, successful upgrade of our names.nsf from R5 design to R7 design yesterday in Basel, Switzerland. Gradual propagation in February before the first R7 server is out in the field. Currently flying back to NJ on Lufthansa. Fantastic, WiFi on board ! - Hubert

    PS : 220 this morning with winter tyres to catch my plane :-)

    Agree with everyone... great news... I have been holding out on full client deployment since mid-december because I did not want to do it twice... Not a big deal but my users wine alot about my forced upgrade policy...

    Now all I need is 7.0.2 for the mac support... Hoping to get the beta notice soon..

    Did any one else notice that they changed the estimated release date to February and now it's back to January at { Link } ?

    I've started using the DominoBlog template internally. I'm on 3.0, but I'd like to use the style that Ed, John and others use, at least to start with.

    Is it possible to use this style in the 3.0 template? If so, how? There don't appear to be any downloadable styles for 3.0, though the author is working on importing WordPress styles, which look pretty spiffy.

    Ed,

    Will 7.0.1 support DB2 now?

    Thanks,

    @11 the DB2 support in 7.0.1 remains the same -- limited availability program is available to support production applications, and a feature trial for anyone to download. See: { Link }

    I have just installed it and I love the fact that the built in Sametime now changes to 'Away' if I don't use the computer! Thanks...

    @7 - Sorry I missed your post - so late replying.

    Version 3 "themes" will be available very soon (with any luck next week)- I will make the Movable Type template that Ed uses available at the same time.

    I got the question from @Tim about how to make the changes in Sametime I mention @13...

    You have to put it in notes.ini

    $STActiveToAwayEnabled=1

    $STAwayToActiveEnabled=1

    $STActiveToAwayTimeout=3 (in minutes)

    @13 - Thanks, Steve.
