Not quite sure when these will hit the download sites, but Notes/Domino 8.5 beta 2 should be available to download later tonight or tomorrow morning.  The download staging for this update is going on right now.....

    Ed,

I am loving R8.5. Looking forward to testing this version. Notes is great at keeping all the fidelity to all my old databases back to R3...

    Thanks!

Just don't mention the Olympics. The locals are a bit touchy about it.

    (Because the Brits hammered them!)

    Cheers,

Great news.. We have just renewed our Lotus licenses just to have access to this version.

Will we see additional supported server platforms for Lotus Traveler. We want to implement this solution in our environment, but we have no Windows server. So we need Traveler on the iSeries or on Linux.

Great News! Since the new release 8.0.2 I have been waiting for a new 8.5 Beta Version...

I have used 8.5 Beta 1, downgraded it to 8.0.2 and maybe I have to upgrade to 8.5. Beta 2 :-) The keyfactor will be the support of Lotus Traveler - I'm waiting for IPhone support. Because IPhone Ultralite webaccess I have downdraded to 8.0.2 this week.

Does anybody know someting if Travler comes in the new Beta with I Phone support? Hopfully with a properly language support... DWA Ultralite in 8.5. Beta 1 has been totally unacceptable in German.

Did anybody try out the roaming workspace?

  1. 11  Peter Wilson  |

Will the look of the workspace be 'jazzed up' in 8.5 ?

@7/@8 there will be no additional Travler platforms in this beta. IBM has not announced any additional plans for Travler, though as I said in a comment elsewhere we plan to add additional device support in the 8.5 timeframe. To Manuel's comment, there is still no announced plan for Traveler or a Traveler-like solution for iPhone. Several third parties have released limited sync support for iPhone including CommonLink, Sybase iAnywhere, and now Excitor.

Please be sure to post your feedback on Ultralite as it is now shipping in 8.0.2 (and that code is later than 8.5 beta 1).

    @11 no.

I cannot wait to try it... Do you know if Symphony 1.1 is embedded?

I have been using iNotes Ultra on the iPhone for 2 days now - I REALLY really like it - it is superfast and does a lot of things I wanted. The private contact list (edit and use) is really nice - we can even dial using it :o)

That being said....here's what I find lacking:

    1. Domino Directory integration - what I did here is create an automated copy for my users so that the current directory is in their mail database - this is not an ideal solution - the users what to be able to add addresses when in the email part of iNotes i.e. adding a cc is quite difficult as you have to enter the EMail address by hand.

    2. Calendar integration: I cannot add anything to the calendar which basically makes it useless to me. I love being able to check my calendar (even if the Day at a Glance view isn't always the easiest way to check these things) but not being able to book the time actually makes it useless to me.

    3. No week / month view in the calender

    4. My users are finding it confusing using the interface - they are never sure whether to use the buttons IN iNotes or to use the buttons in Safari - this will get better with time :o)

That's it - those are all the gripes that I have - I use iNotes Ultra to be able to see if I have received a Mail - to do a quick, short answer and to check my calendar. Fix the addressing and calender stuff (just the ability to create an appointment, no fancy repeating appointments etc for me :o) and I'd be VERY happy!

    Background:

    2 Domino Servers - 1 internal 7.0.2 FP2, 1 in the DMZ 8.0.2

    100 Notes users

    11 iPhone users

@13 not sure if it is in this build, but at least 1.1 will be in the shipping 8.5.

Will the performance work in 8.0.2 be incorporated into the 8.5 beta 2 build?
