Thanks for posting. Looks good. Very timely for my split-messaging environment client (50-50, Notes-Exchange), as they just put their Exchange 2003 migration on-hold indefinitely. Far too many issues and downtime to justify continuance. They will look to move to a single messaging platform this year.

Ed.... great sessions as always, and good to see you again. Hopefully you have most of your voice back.

Nicely done indeed. The checkered past is very well done with good references and terminology. Of course we have a slightly different perspective on that past, but the graphic you listed serves your interests much better. With the exception of just a few, most of the products and features you listed evolved into full-blown products because of customer demand or simply renamed as their features became expanded.
That graphic alone is probably why you frustrate so many people at Microsoft!

I don't recall any of the forms or workflow products evolving into anything else; "digital dashboard" was DOA, etc. Only the IM capability really has survived...but it's been redone twice already.

Ed,
My kid's kindergarten teacher put it best...."if you believe only half the things your kids says about me, then I promise to believe only half the things she tells me about you!"
Workflow designer download link:
www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=b0dbf355-d619-491f-86b6-082c83642cb3&displaylang=en
This tool has been around for years and still used...not dead at all!
Live Communication Server Link is much improved and available as a standalone for those who do not want to integrate it with Exchange Server. www.microsoft.com/office/livecomm/prodinfo/default.mspx
The forms tools get no respect! The first forms designer was named Electronic Forms Designer (EFD) since it pre-dated Outlook. This tool evolved into the Outlook Forms Designer (These tools and their updates are still available for download) The newest wizard is a converter to move forms to HTML (many would say more efficient)
Here is a link that lists the many ways (with good samples) of coding and using wizards to create Outlook and Exchange applications. www.outlookcode.com/d/index.htm
Another great resource is Tom Rizzo's book:
Programming Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange 2003, Third Edition
Digital Dashboard technology was successful and helped drive a new "portal" strategy for Microsoft. I did several of these DDRK projects and was pleased when Microsoft formalized the drive with SharePoint. This added a much better framework, support and the ability to use Office tools, ASP.NET and other technoligies to create web parts.

Cheers Ed - some real gems in there - not that I really need 'em - but they will be parked should the need arise. You know what would be great? A mix of these slides and your voice over from Lotusphere!
