May 10 2009
One of many, many bits of news this week...
The IBM Lotus and WebSphere Portal Business Solutions Catalog on Lotus Greenhouse provides a variety of IBM created and validated widgets to simplify many tasks developed with the latest Lotus technology. Take advantage of the tools listed in the Catalog and provide feedback via the Ratings and Comments sections. Stay tuned for additional new functionality in the future!Initially, the catalog has about 30 widgets and plug-ins for Lotus Notes, integrating with a range of business- and consumer-focused websites. This catalog will expand over time, across all the IBM Lotus products.

This is great! A public catalog we can point customers to and let them start experiencing widgets straight away.
I agree with Rob it would be nicer if you didn't have to register, but am pleased it's available nonetheless.

I've tried adding widgets into my 8.5 client but get an Import Error which tells me to see the log for more details. I've checked every log and am no further forward.
I do get prompted if the site requires verification and when I enter my username and password an account is entered into my contacts application but this doesn't allow me to get the widget. I've triple checked (and then checked again) that my username and password are correct for Greenhouse but to no avail.
If this is meant to be a simple thing for customers to drag and drop widgets from an IBM catalog then this is really putting me off. I've been able to get widgets from other sources OK but sometime they don't work well and I'd rather get any from a known source.
Any advice?

Huh. Why can't I get to that catalog without logging into Greenhouse? Is this targeted only at people within "the bubble?" Seems odd...
