Redbook residency: Optimizing Lotus Domino 8.5.1 Administration
September 19 2010
A new RedWiki project kicks off next month...
This new Redbooks publication wiki, "Optimizing Lotus Domino 8.5.1 Administration" will focus on system administration best practices for complex and non-complex environments. Some of the areas include performance tuning, configuration for high availability (clustering), and transaction logging. We will also look at cross-product integration environments, such as Sametime, LDAP, QuickPlace, and Domino servers, running together.Details: ibm.com: Redbook residency: Optimizing Lotus Domino 8.5.1 Administration >

Great news - but why call it 8.5.1 instead of 8.5.x administration and update for the newest version as of today (8.5.2) and then for the next point releases as well?

This is great news. Hopefully, there will be a section on SMTP configurations, as well. I know many admins get confused by the options, and wonder about the effects of different combinations.

Agreed @4. Would also like the project to do a thorough job of commenting on every configuration doc field option. Currently, not all of the fields have active bubble help (when you click on the label, and see a description of the feature). What would be extremely help would be for this project to document all of such areas, and then for IBM to update all server config forms so that the highlighted help is complete, and if possible, when 'called' also brings a live link to the most up to date documentation (online) of such features.

Would love to do this redwiki but maybe next time.
Agreed some more detail to some parameters in the server doc would be nice, especially the SMTP side as clients always have issues with it.

Did someone download it?
I cannot do it, because IBM said that -no such document
Please forward it to e-mail ?

Hi Ed,
Excellent news. The good or bad impression about Domino product often has to do with the technical level of administrator. There are many uncertified managers out there. And worse, many without any formal training course. So this is an excellent approach. And, by the way, QuickPlace is now called Quickr, :))
Best regards,
Albert
