Today's big news about Oracle/Siebel is likely to obliterate this story, but it's too important to pass up.  Here is an example of a big-time ISV choosing to integrate with Lotus Notes, based on market feedback.  I hear sometimes that a reason for choosing Outlook is that has more ISV support -- but like Blackberry before them, Siebel found that integrating with Outlook left them out of almost half the market, especially in large enterprises.

Siebel Systems Inc. on Sunday introduced the latest version of its Web-based software, appealing to large businesses using IBM's Lotus Notes office management system in its battle against rival Salesforce.com. ...
"This particular release provides deeper enterprise capability and integration," he said. "What we found in large organizations is that they also wanted Lotus Notes integration."
