Glad to see we're (collectively) providing rich entertainment value to Roger Whitehead...

Microsoft normally announces something about now to try to attract wavering punters to its products. The Lotus faithful treat these 'spoilers' with contempt, their blog sites typically showing the infeasibility or unattractiveness of the latest Redmond offering or, now and again, scornfully pointing out its rapid withdrawal. It all makes for Wimbledon-like fun for the unaligned observer.
I have heard a lot of people wonder where our "January surprise" is.  I'll tell you about a couple of things I know about:
  • Their attendance profile at Lotusphere is a little different.  One of the lead Outlook competitive guys at Microsoft, Dave Madison, is now at Foldera.  He used to attend Lotusphere for MS.  They certainly have many others coming this year...
  • I have heard reports that Microsoft's presence at Lotusphere this year in part is to provide entertainment -- taking at least one customer out to dinner during the week.  The debrief on that is going to be pretty interesting...
  • On Thursday, Microsoft is running their Windows Vista & Office 2007 launch event in....Orlando.  But who would want to miss Gurupalooza, Meet the Developers, and the closing session of Lotusphere?
  • Microsoft's blog on Notes migration woke up earlier today, with a promise that "over the next few days this information and  more will be coming out... hang tight for just a little longer. "  Gee, what could be catalyzing an information release in the next few days?
  • Update: It seems that all the details on the new "Microsoft Transporter Suite for Lotus Domino" are now available on this blog on msexchange.org.
