RSS feeds and blog templates coming in Domino
January 23 2006
In INV101, Kevin Cavanaugh just mentioned that later this year, Domino 7 will have standard out-of-the-box RSS feed support as well as blog template support. There's not a lot of detail being shared about this right now, so I will dig into what else I can write a bit later.

I will talk to my counterparts on the content team about any additional repeats beyond tomorrow morning.

Off topic, but worth noting, imo...
In addition to all the excitement going on in Orlando, Jakob Nielsen names IBM one of the ten best intranets for 2006. { Link }
(tssss....) IBM is SMOKIN'!

It will be interesting to see a blogging template from IBM and also see how the current templates that are available fair up against it. With the template development skills within IBM I'm sure it's going to be fairly nice looking.
Great to see the RSS feeds being added to templates. I hope they have managed to get it into QuickPlace 7.5 also, that would be nice to see.

Depends. If Thomas Gumz does it, it'll be perfect. If it's the DWA team, it'll work really well, but be impossible to modify.

Ed,
Any additional detail would be much appreciated. Especially: will secure feeds be supported?
Thanks,
Charlie

I hope IBM does not try to invent their own blog template. Instead, they should license Steve Castledine's Domino content system (ProjectDX). Now THAT would be a value-add.

This was announced as a 7.0.2 feature -- still on track for later this quarter.

Ed, I hope there will be many repeats of this session. There was a ton of people who where turned away at the door. We showed up a few minutes before the session started, and there was a huge line to get it. I know there is one on Tuesday @ 11:15, but that may not be enough.
Kevin's sessions are always excellent; I should have known better than to show up 10 minutes before it started expected to get a seat.
