Tomorrow is the Lotusphere Comes to You event here in Chicago. I'll be presenting the Notes/Domino session at 10:30 and the Notes 8 breakout at 11:30.
In talking with a colleague a few minutes ago, I realized that the Hyatt McCormick Place is going to be an adventure to get to. As if inbound rush hour wasn't bad enough, the Dan Ryan (I-94) lane closures have started up again. I'm betting 100 minutes from pre-school dropoff to Hyatt parking lot.
So, hope to see you there!
Next week -- Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Tuesday the 13th.
Week after -- Petach Tikva, Israel on Monday the 19th; Lisbon, Portugal on Thursday the 22nd.

Oh cool, if your world map { Link } is up to date, this will be your first visit to Portugal. Lisbon is the only place I've visited twice for vacation (other than ski trips). The carriage museum was an unexpected treat, as was the museum of modern art. If you want a spectacular meal, try Valle-Flor at The Pestana hotel.

@2 My map is accurate, so yes, this will be my first visit to Portugal. I am not sure how much free time I will have -- land late Wednesday, work Thursday and Friday, leave early Saturday -- but the dinner recommendation could be quite useful. I'm staying at a hotel called Hotel Arts, it looks pretty cool. { Link }

The commute will be ugly no matter what you do. I'm taking a train, a bus, and a cab

I'm not familiar with the Hotel Arts. On our first trip we stayed at the Britania { Link } , which is maybe two blocks from the Rossio. The second trip we stayed several blocks north at The Pestana Palace { Link } ,which is the hotel that houses Valle-Flor. We were there in October and it was chestnut season so they had a special chef's tasting menu centered around the freshly harvested chestnuts. It was a magical experience that I won't ever forget. :)
If you ever do get a chance to visit Lisbon for fun I highly recommend The Pestana Palace. It is by far the finest hotel I have ever stayed at.

Ed, Charles,
Hotel Arts is across the street from IBM building in a part of Lisbon which was renovated for Expo 98 world exibition, away from historical centre.
I will be glad to tour Lisbon with Ed or anyone coming here.

With DST and ND8 beta I fell behind. Overall the event was well done, good logistics, speakers and turnout. The excitement from the attendee was good to see along with the number of fellow business partners in attendance. Congratulations to all on a great event.

I am taking the train and a cab from what I still call Northwestern stations. But either way, getting to 22nd and Martin Luther King Drive and back is gonna be a challenge.
