Doug Spencer is on my team and is one of the demo gurus in the Lotus team.  He's just posted a great video that explains what Lotus Foundations is about, then demonstrates the installation, setup, and deployment of a Foundations box..  The ten-minute video speeds up the boring parts of the install....but shows that the full start-to-finish process takes less than an hour:

    Windows clients only. Boo, hiss.

    Give Doug a raise. If we get more videos like this it helps demonstrate the capability of the products.

    I think it would be helpful to a lot of people, for a variety of reasons to have a posting on HOW Doug made the movie. (e.g. the process, the software, the hardware, etc.)

    Nice job.

    @1 - very true

    @2 - good idea

    @Ed - when can I have one for my non-for profit organization through techsoup.com? (Sorry if I repeat myself ;)

    Now I wish we had have taped our Domino 7 Install, Configuration, Migration from Exchange and upgrade to 8.5 that we did LIVE in 30 minutes during the "ISW Lotus Deep Dive" following LCTY in Sydney.

    <grin>

    That was a great Lotus demo too...

    oh great. As if the job market weren't tight enough. This is one less reason a company will need my professional skills. I can hear it now: "Why do we need an IT department? We have Lotus Foundations!"

    -Bah humbug

    (Can I get a home version?)

    Great presentation, interesting product. Big marketing hit, "Autonomic Computing" in action. Self-managing and -configuration might be creditable, but how about 'self-healing'? I doubt, that this box offers new concepts.

    Where was this video shot? It looks like the bridge of the Enterprise.

    Actually -

    To the person who stated windows only, that is incorrect. I am using my Mac as we speak, and connecting to my Foundations server.

    Jennifer,

    Maybe you can clarify this for me. While I know that the Lotus Foundation Server runs on Linux, are you saying that a user can connect to the Foundation Server from either

    Windows or

    Mac OS or

    Linux

    This is one of the things that is not clear on the IBM website for this product.

    TIA,

    Linda
